Go to Work With Your Husband Day

Yesterday Mitchell asked Hailey and I if we wanted to go to work with him. Since he is a contractor he drives all around the Portland Metro Area so I was not too excited to go until he told me that he should be done by 12. Of course I was going to go. When do I get to spend so much alone time with him during the day?


Here he is hauling nasty mattresses from a dumpster at an apartment complex with two of his employees.



We also went to Home Depot. I swear he is one of their greatest customers because he is there at least 4 times a day getting supplies for his employees or checking prices for bids. He LIVES at Home Depot.



After half of the day of driving around we were able to go and have some fun bowling. This is something that Mitchell likes to do with his employees so I thought that it was our time to have fun also.

The bowling area also had an arcade room and Hailey and Mitchell went on a roller coaster ride. It looked like a lot of fun.

I believe that go to work with your husband day should be a National Day. It was a lot of fun to see him in his element and to see him interact with his employees. We look forward to going to work with him again real soon.

You are Invited

On Sunday we were invited to another one of the girls fantastic shows that they put on in their bedroom. We wanted to invite you to sit back, relax and enjoy the show. :)

They always have chairs ready, and in this case with an "ottoman" to rest our legs, or blankets for us to sit on. How relaxing.

What if?

Whenever I drive down the freeway I see a sign for the Oregon Lottery. Today it read that the lotto was at $144 million. I was thinking about all of the things that I would do with $144 million. Of course, I do not and never have bought a lottery ticket, but what if! Would you take it all in a lump sum or yearly payments? What would you do with it?

Happy 9th Birthday Lindsay

My, look how much my baby has grown, I can not believe that she is 9 years old.

Lindsay was a flower girl at her Uncle Ryan and Aunt Pams wedding. She is holding Hailey, who was 3 weeks old and is sitting by Ashley. She has always been my little princess!
Her first day of kindergarten. She was so excited and had such a fun time. Her sister was not all that excited and really wanted to go with her.

Todays Thorn is Tomorrows Flower

I would not normally share this on my blog but since I told everyone on here I thought that it would be appropriate. As you know, I am 8 weeks pregnant. A week or so ago some things happened to me to think that I may have started having a miscarriage. After many phone calls to the Doctor I finally got in for an ultrasound. The ultrasound showed us our greatest fear. Yes, the baby had died but I had to have a D&C to remove it.


Yesterday I went into the Surgery Center and after the procedure and 7 LONG hours at the hospital they did not get the baby out. This was due to the fact that I have had three C-Sections and I had pretty bad scarring. I will go back to the DR on Monday for another ultrasound and then I have to go back in 7-10 days to have the procedure all over again. UGH!


I have had some wonderful help. My sister watched Hailey for two nights and my friend took Lindsay and Ashley after school. She also brought us a meal and beautiful flowers. Mitchell has work off until Monday so he has been home to help me.


We have truly felt your prayers for us and we thank you for that. We are sad and I am in pain, but we have to put our full trust in Heavenly Father. Only he knows what I am truly going through and only he knows why I have to go through it. I wish that I did not have to go through it again, but for some reason that is how the cards fell.


I received an email from my mom last week that really helped me through this. Here it is:

Once there was a man who asked God for a Flower and a Butterfly.

But instead God gave him a cactus and a caterpillar.

The man was sad, he did not understand why his request was mistaken.

Then he thought, oh well God has so many people to care for...

and decided not to question.

After some time, the man went to check up on his request that he had left forgotten.

To his surprise, from the thorny and ugly cactus a beautiful flower had grown.

And the unsightly caterpillar had been transformed into the most beautiful butterfly.

God always does things right!

His way is ALWAYS the best way, even if to us it seems all wrong.

If you asked God for one thing & received another, TRUST.

You can be sure that He will always give you what you need at the appropriate time.

What you want is not always what you need.

God never fails to grant our petitions, so keep on going for him without doubting or murmuring.

A Weekend of Memories

HERE'S TO 10 YEARS

For our Anniversary we went to the Portland City Grill that is located on the 30th floor of a high rise downtown Portland. The food was fabulous and so was the view.

UP, UP, and AWAY

There is a soaring club located about 5 minutes from our home. We have watched the gliders take off and land but Mitchell never had a try. It was his turn on Saturday. He had such a fun time.

Together, Forever, Sealed with Love

WOW! Ten years ago today I was sealed to my husband for eternity in the Los Angeles Temple. We had so many of our family and friends surrounding us on that special day. Here are a few of my favorite pictures. One of these days I will buy a scanner, but for now these pictures will have to do.

Being in the temple was such an amazing experience. I knew when I was young that the only place that I was to be married was in the temple, the hard part was finding the man who would bring me there. When I was in 12th grade I found him. He has always made me happy.

Mitchell was really surprised to see his old school teacher at our wedding. He assumed that he was just at the temple the same day, but his teacher told him that he would not miss it for the world. He also had his parents, and a couple of his best friends there. His friend that introduced him to the church was one of our witnesses.

I also had a lot of support from family and friends. All of my brothers and sisters were there but my brother, Jared. He was on a mission to Venezuela. My Aunt and Uncle and some of their children even came down from Utah. My Uncle was our photographer. He did a great job!

My bridesmaids included my friend Krissy, my sister Heather, my friend Kelly, my sister Allyson, Me, My roommate at Ricks and friend Angela, my friend Sharyl and my sister Tricia. Never choose Burgundy as your wedding colors in April. These poor girls had a hard time finding a Burgundy dress but they all did and they looked GORGEOUS!

This is my favorite picture of the whole day. My Grandma Adamson has always been so fun and spunky. She stole my bouquet right out of my hands. I sure do miss her!

I have to show our car. It was full of balloons and shaving creme. Do NOT put shaving creme on a car, it does NOT wash out. We had a heart imprinted on the hood of our car until we sold it.

I never knew that 10 years later we would have so many fun and amazing memories. We have also been blessed with our wonderful daughters and another one on the way. I look forward to what new adventures will come. Bring it on!

(I also want to tell my sister Heather and her husband Paul Happy 15th Anniversary. It is fun sharing the same day with you both!)

100 Reasons

Our 10 year anniversary is on Thursday so I wanted to dedicate a couple of postings to my husband.

100 things I love about my husband, Mitchell!
1. He loves me just the way that I am
2. He calls me at least 3 times during the day while he is at work
3. He is very smart. If I need help with Math or English he is right there to help me.
4. He is as cute as can be.
5. He gets me
6. The way he holds my hand when we’re crossing the road
7. His eyes
8. His smile
9. He is a loving and kind father (This was taken in approx 2000 when we still lived in Utah.)

11. The way he knows how I’m feeling even when I don’t say anything
12. His unconditional support in anything I do
13. He is such a dreamer. He constantly is talking about his next big project which could include building an airplane from scratch, building a travel trailor, opening a small breakfast place and many more.
14. I actually love that he is a pilot, even though I hate flying, it shows that when he puts his mind to something he gets it done.

This picture was taken the first day that we got our own office for our Mortgage Company. I surprised him with some sparkling cider to celebrate. We have also owned a small cafe and right now he is the owner of American Contracting Services, a contracting company. He likes to say that if you takes risks you can reap bigger rewards, which he belives whole heartedly! 34. He does not snore.
35. He has some really funny embarrassing moments.
36. He has been there for me through some of the hardest times in my life and will always be there for me.
37. I love sitting with him at church.
38. He tells me how good dinner is even if it is not that great.
39. He puts up with my not so funny humor
40. He will talk to the girls when they need to hear something that is hard to say.
41. He loves to go camping with me.
42. When he gives gifts he gives big gifts like a huge easter basket (it cost him $80 OUCH!), a cruise to the Mexican Riviera and a gold necklace.

This is us on our cruise. It was so nice to be without kids for five days. We sure did miss them though. It was really nice to be able to be alone and dedicate 100% of my time to him.43. He rarely gives me flowers so when he does it means that I am pretty special.
44. He holds his Priesthood Sacred.
45. He is a great Priest advisor and he truly cares for all of the boys that he serves over.
46. He is a fisherman. I love fishing with him.

We love to travel to Oklahoma to visit his relatives. Here we are fishing in his Aunts pond. It was so full of fish, and look at the small thing that he caught. He He. He actually used it for bait for a larger fish.47. He is a great missionary.
48. He is a great people person.
49. He always knows the right things to say.
50. He is always cool, calm and collected.
51. He is a very positive person.
52. He is very handy.
53. He is very competitive.
54. Who can resist his wonderful voice?
55. He is charming
56. He is a great singer. Even though you may never know that and he will never admit it. This is actually one of the first things that I noticed about him.
57. Everything he does he does with 110% determination.
58. He likes to work out with me.
59. He brings an atmosphere of laughter into our home.
60. He can laugh at himself.
61. He never says, “I told you so.” He may think it, but he never says it.
62. He tells me that he loves me often.
63. He lets me go places alone while he watches the kids.
64. He likes to bribe me with money. Yes, it actually works. This does not happen very often. It is times like when I clean an apt for him he gives me all of the money or if I get to a certain weight he will give me $300 for a new wardrobe. Things like that.
65. He actually wants to be with me! No, I am not forcing him.
66. He always knows the RIGHT answers.
67. He is older than me. Yep, I love this.
68. He took me to my high school prom. He realized that was important to me.
69. He cries when he watches the end of 40 First Dates.
70. He hallucinates when he gets a high fever. I don’t love this, but it makes me feel like I am needed when I need to be at his side until the fever comes down.
71. He is a great boss. He takes his employees out to breakfast once a week, pays for their lunches every day, takes them bowling and on fishing trips. I actually wonder if he ever works. Just kidding.
72. He is great with numbers.
73. He is very honest and people can see this.
74. Did I say that he is a hard worker? I know that I did but he is such a dedicated hard worker and is such a great person.
75. He is a great teacher to our children.
76. He loves our children and I unconditionally.
77. He is always there for me and he never gives up on me. Except for the day that he fired me from being his secretary. That is another story.
78. He is my helpmeet (however you spell it).
79. He is a great eater and will eat all of the food so that we do not have any leftovers. (I hate leftovers so he is doing me a favor.)
80. He is always trying to help people. One day the guy in front of him in line at the grocery store did not have enough money to pay for what he was going to buy so Mitchell payed for it for him.
81. He is always right there when someone needs help moving something and he rarely complains about it.
82. He always kisses me before he leaves for work, even if I am asleep.
83. He talks to me when he thinks that I am sleeping.
84. I loves that he is the first thing that I see when I wake up in the morning.
85. He tells our kids that he loves them several times a day.
86. His anguish whenever he has to punish our kids. He knows it is for their own good, but it is just so hard for him to do it, after all they are his little princesses.
87. He drives when we are in the car together. This makes me very happy because I am a nervous wreck when I drive.
88. He is careful with our money.
89. He takes me to lunch quite often or out to dinner as a family.
90. He rarely complains!
91. He has a great curiosity about everything.
92. He’s got the most comfortable lap to curl up in and watch movies
93. He doesn’t mind explaining things I don’t understand in movies (which is in about every movie that I watch so I do not watch very many movies.)
94. He has strong views and will let you know how he feels IF you ask him.
95. His soothing voice.
96. The sound of his heartbeat as he is falling asleep.
97. His inability to find things. Yes, this frustrates me to no end, but I still love it because if he found something on his own then what am I here for.
98. He can apologize when he is wrong, even though I am not too good at it.
99. He has this habit of pulling on the back of his shirt. He actually has holes in his shirt because of it. It makes me smile.
100. He took me to the temple to be sealed for time and all eternity 10 years ago and would not have it any other way.
I LOVE YOU MITCHELL!!!!

Weekend Happenings

(Thank you Jamie for helping me figure out what I was doing wrong with my blog!)

HILLARY CLINTON RALLY

Senator Hillary Clinton made a visit to our city to hold a rally and it was only a mile from our house. Mitchell woke up early and went to the rally. He wanted to experience what a political rally would be like even though he doesn't support Hillary or the Democratic cause.

Mitchell said that it was extremely loud in the gym. A lot of talk about what she wants to do to change America yet she gave no explanation on how she wanted to do it. What a great experience to see the former first lady of the United States even though it made him a little sick to listen to what some are calling the "Progressive Agenda". For some reason his pictures of her did not turn out so these are the only ones that we have to post.

CABELA'S

If you have never gone inside a Cabelas store, you need to go. It is so much fun. They have real animals that you can view. The girls loved to be able to see them up close.

Mitchell's favorite was the shooting range. He hit every target!

CONFERENCE

What a great experience to be able to sustain our new Prophet. I made sure that the girls came into the room to be able to experience this. I do not remember sustaining President Hinckley so it was really neat to be able to experience this with my girls and to be able to write my feelings down. It would have been amazing to be able to be in the conference center, but it was just as amazing in my own home. I still felt the calming assurance that President Monson was to be our new prophet and that he is truly called from our Heavenly Father. The feelings and that day will not be forgotten.

Spring Break Fun

(Something is wrong with my blog. As I am writing this, my pictures are showing up in an html script and so I can not see my pictures, but when I publish my post it is there. I am assuming it has something to do with cookies, but I cant figure out what it is. Has anyone had this same problem?)

This spring break I wanted to make sure that we were able to do some fun things with the girls. There is nothing worse than having three grumpy girls for a whole week. Knowing that the weather was going to be rainy, I had to come up with some indoor activities. We put Lindsay and Ashley into a Spring Break Gymnastics Camp. I always thought that camps were just so that you could pawn off your kids with someone else so I was hesitant, but it really was a lot of fun for them. Here are some fun videos of them running their obstacle courses. (I thought that you could view them but now they did not appear. Strange and annoying.)

Our bishops wife sent out an email that our local indoor swimming pool was having a spring break special. We were all able to get in for $16.00. Hailey was REALLY hesitant at first. She did not want anything to do with the water. After about 20 minutes she finally warmed up and ended up having a great time and did not want to leave.

Lindsay had a great time going down the waterslide. Ashley was too young to go alone and since I had to be with Hailey she did not get a chance to go on it. She had a great time with her mom though. :)

It is always fun having the kids home for Spring Break. They always seem to miss school when they are gone so when Monday came they were as happy as can be, and so was mom! Ha Ha.
