OMSI

Our friends, Mara and Andy Nelson, invited us to go with them to OMSI on Presidents Day.  Mitchell had to work so I took the kids.  We had such a fun time.  Mara and Andy have four kids ages 8, 6, 3 and 1 and my kids get along really well.  Lindsay and Ashley love babysitting their kids.

 

Mythbusters was an exhibit at OMSI this year and it was such a fun place to see some of the actual items that they used on the Mythbusters tv show. 

 

Hailey, Amanda Nelson, Ashley and Lindsay built a block home like on "The Three Little Pigs" then put it inside a chamber that had an air machine and they tested to see if the blocks would blow over.

 

Hailey went inside the telephone booth to see how fast she can change into a superhero outfit.  She was pretty fast and always cute.

Mara, in Red, and Andy trying out the Tablecloth exhibit.  We found that if you use the silky tablecloth and placed it silky side down then you could, if you pulled fast enough, keep the dishes on the table.  None of the kids were able to get it but Andy and I were able to.

 We took Calvin and the younger Nelson kids to the childrens area and Calvin had fun holding the balls and looking at the other children.  He was not a fan of the water area or the sand area but had fun in the ball pit.

Biggest Loser

Since having children I have always struggled with my weight.  It has been a constant battle.  My thoughts lately have been that as long as I can fit in the pants that I own, size 14, I don't need to buy more and I will be just fine. 

 

In March 2012 I was talking to my Mom on the phone and came up with the idea to do a family Biggest Loser challenge.  It was so much fun.  My starting weight was a whopping 163.  I have NEVER been 163 lbs before.  I felt every pound.  I was not happy with myself and I just could not make any clothes look good on me.  I was excited for this new challenge. 

 

After about 10 weeks the challenge was over and I came in third behind Mitchell and Byron.  The race was SO close.  I was so proud of myself because I lost 20 lbs. 

 

Through the next couple of months I gained back some of the weight and on January 1, 2013 I decided this time I was going to lose weight and keep it off.  On facebook I started another Biggest Loser challenge.  It has been so much fun.  I have good weeks and bad weeks.  I think that since I know how everyone is doing and that I am not in first it is not as motivating for me but this picture truly motivates me now.  I can not believe how much of a difference 21 lbs is. 

 

 

Our biggest loser challenge ends the last Monday in March so I hope that I can be down 30 lbs and get close to my goal weight of 130 lbs.  I have not been to that weight since right after I got married almost 15 years ago.
